ARCHAEOLOGY

Archaeological excavations led by Aisling Collins has been conducted on site in which they have excavated over 150 intact burials. Finds from the excavation include, medieval church window glass, medieval floor tile, medieval roof tile, medieval pottery, a 17th c Spanish gold colonial coin, post medieval coins and a large amount of post medieval coffin furniture. They also found evidence of a medieval road way and an associated ditch running along the general route of James St towards the city. Evidence of grave robbing was also discovered.
